Haywire Twist: This knot is used to tie wire leader to the hook. The twists followed by locking wraps vary in number depending on the diameter of the wire. Lighter wire requires more twists and wraps to prevent slipping. About 8 twists and 6 or 8 wraps at the top are normal for light wire such at 27 lb test.

NOTE: The tag end left over after performing wraps should be wiggle-bent until is snaps off clean. Cutting this tag end can produce a dangerous, sharp wire stub.
