Bait: finger mullet
Notes: Bill says anglers o the incoming tide most of this week fishing on the back side of Picnic island near the pier were catching quite a few snook running 20 in. shorts to a very few slots in the 29 in. range, and a few running to 40 in. long. They were biting live shrimp and finger mullet on the bottom.

Notes: Bill says on the Tampa end of Gandy bridge from the catwalks anglers the last couple of days were catching a few cobia running 26 in. to 32 in. long. The fish were biting live shrimp and pin fish both free lined and under popping corks. There were a few break off's of most likely larger cobia.

Notes: Bill says , the fishing is pretty good this week along the Gandy bridge but not to many anglers. On the west end of the bridge near the south Gandy channel anglers were catching a good number of mangrove snapper most keepers during the early morning hours around the pilings and on or near the rocks on the bottom. There running from 12 in. to a few in the 3 lb. range and biting small shrimp and cut green backs.

Notes: Bill says the last couple of days anglers were catching a few pompano on the incoming tide on the Tampoa end of Gandy bridge, in the early afternoon this week. They were running 11 in. to 13 in. and were biting yellow and white Doc's Goofy pompano jigs tipped with small pieces of frozen shrimp, and a pink teaser trailing behind

Notes: Bill says, most of this week before the rain moved in Yesterday anglers fishing off the catwalks on the Tampa end of Gandy bridge mostly at night were catching a few black drum averaging 10 lb. to 12 lb. with one large fish estimated to go around 40 lb. The drum were biting pass crabs. A couple of the smaller drum were kept the rest including the 40 lb. one were thrown back in the water.

Notes: Bill reports, anglers earlier this week fishing around the channel markers and range finders on the east side of Weedon Island power plant were catching a few cobia running from just under the legal size to a couple in the 34 in. and 35 in. range. The cobia were biting live shrimp and pinfish both free lined and under floats early in the mornings.

Notes: Bill says, anglers most of the past week and so far this week have been catching quite a few mangrove snapper in the 8 in. to 12 in. range. The snapper were biting small shrimp and cut up green backs on or near the bottom on the west end of Gandy bridge in and around the South Gandy channel. A few caught during the day but most at night. A few limits on the little snapper.

Notes: Bill reports a few spanish mackerel were caught off the catwalks on the Tampa end of Gandy bridge most of this week both earlier and late in the day, running 12 in. to 14 in. long. The macks were biting live white bait and shrimp free lined and under floats as well as silver and gold spoons. The bite was a little slow and only a few keepers caught a day.

Notes: Bill says, at night a good number of 10 in. to 12 in. mangrove snapper were caught most of this week around the west end of Gandy bridge near the South Gandy channel by a few boat anglers. The snapper were biting on small live shrimp and cut white bait. There were a few of the anglers taking home limits of snapper.

Notes: Bill says, anglers fishing at the Gandy bridge this week using live pinfish and thread fins were hooking at night,quite a few tarpon in the 60 lb. to 80 lb,. range. Most were lost getting them out from around the piling but a few were brought to the boats, measured and there weight estimated, photographed and cut loose.

Notes: Bill reports, on the Tampa side of the bay off the Gandy bridge quite a few snook running from under size in the 25 to 26 in. range as well as a few in the slot and some overs to 35 in. +. They were biting early mornings and late in the afternoons through the night in the shadow line. They were biting live shrimp and white bait as well as at first light top water lures. Since there still out of season all were cut loose.

Notes: Bill reports, anglers fishing the American Legion flats on the east side of the bay and south of Gandy bridge were catching quite a few spotted trout early mornings most of this week running to 18 in. long with most in the under size 12 in. to 14 in. range. They were biting live shrimp and root beer color Gulp strips on various jig heads. By 9:00 to 9:30 A.M. the bite was over most likely because of the heat.

Notes: Bill says, anglers on the Tampa end of Gandy bridge fishing from the cat walks were catching a few cobia on Tuesday night. The cobia were running mostly under 30 in. with one 35 in. being the only keeper he knows about. They were biting live pin fish and the largest shrimp anglers could find. The shorts were thrown back.

Notes: Bill says, anglers fishing on the St. Pete. end of Gandy bridge the past few weeks were jumping a few tarpon mostly early morning and at night running in the 50. lb. to 80 lb. range. The tarpon were biting live thread fins and pinfish. There were a few brought to the boats measured there weight estimated, photographed and cut loose.
