Q: When I enter my user name and password I am told I am not authorized to view the page. Why?

A: User names and passwords are case sensitive and must be typed exactly, using upper and lowercase letters.
If you are certain you are using the correct user and pass and it still is failing to authorize you, quit your browser, restart it and try again.
Sometimes it may be a temporary case of the server being down or other technical trouble. After quitting your browser, try logging in a little later to see if the problem has cleared up.
If you still have trouble email us at Bitetracker support.

Q: When I enter my user name and password it tells me my account has expired. Why?

A: Contact us at billing@bitetracker.com so we can determine the status of your account.

Q: My user name and password does not allow me to log into the forum. Why?

A: You must register for the forum selecting a screen name you want to appear when you post a message in the forum. Your forum password will be emailed to you shortly after registering.

Q: When I go to the Fish Tracker I do not see a chart or map of any kind. Why?

A: Our animated chart system uses the free Flash 5 Plugin. It is the Internet standard for animation on the web. If your browser informs you that it is required to view the page, follow its directions to download the free plugin. If it does not inform you, you may download it by clicking here.

Q: I see the tracker chart but don't see any reports or blinking dots on it. Why?

A: Once a chart has loaded on your screen, a few seconds later you will see legend box appear in the upper left corner of the chart. On it you will see colored dots. Clicking the dot of choice causes the dots on the chart to start blinking. Clicking a blinking dot zooms you in for details. Once zoomed in, you will see the details box appear in the upper right corner of the chart (scroll over if your screen is small). Click the arrow handle to pop it open and read the report. (Note: it is always possible that there are no current reports from a given region. To verify this, check another region to be sure the blinking dot system is working).

Q: Do I have to zoom all the way out using the minus "–" button each time I want to retrieve a new report?

A: Yes.

Q: What do I do if two or more dots are so close together I can't click the one I want?

A: Use the plus "+" zoom in button to get closer. Once the dots are large enough for you to click the one you want, click the dot and retrieve the report.

Q: I can't view the movies. Why?

A: You will need the free Quicktime Player plugin to view the movies. Quicktime is the choice of pros and movie studios seeking the best quality and compatibility for delivering movies and other media over the web. If your browser does not inform you that you need the plugin and doesn't offer to take you to the download page to get it, you can get it here. You don't need the pro version, which you have to pay for. Just look on the page for the free player.

Q: The movie takes a long time to download and begin playing. Why?

A: Be sure you have chosen the correct version for you Internet connection speed. The Cable/DSL version is a larger version for fast broadband connections while the 56K version is smaller and designed for dialup modem connections. While most broadband connections will begin playing the movie right away or very quickly, a dialup connection may take a few minutes before playing. Dialup modems can view the larger version of the movie, but download times will be very long before it begins playing. Also, be sure you have the Quicktime Player plugin installed on your computer. (See previous Q&A).

Q: I can't personalize my weather page for my area. It keeps showing Virginia weather. Why?

A: From the weather page, select the link called"customize my weather" from the weather page. Fill in all the information and be sure to click "save settings" at the bottom of the page. The next time you return to the weather page, you should see your local weather.
